Peak Efficiency Through Advanced System Upgrades

In July 2010, the Tugboat “WADI HATEEB” underwent a comprehensive periodic inspection of its Rolls-Royce Azimuth Stern Drive system and carried out all dock work (Hull cleaning, shot blasting, hull painting, cathodic protection replacing, maintaining of: anchor system with anchor chain, sea chest boxes with valves, cooling sea box and mooring fenders system) on the slipway of the Yemen Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation. All work was carried out under our supervision and in the presence of a Rolls-Royce representative, the manufacturer of the propulsion and steering system ASD. Certain system components were replaced as per the manufacturer’s instructions and following strict standards, ensuring the safety and performance of the propulsion system. This proactive maintenance initiative not only upheld the vessel’s compliance with international safety regulations but also enhanced its operational capability in challenging maritime conditions.

Project Challenges

For “WADI HATEEB,” the challenges centered on rapidly identifying and replacing worn components while ensuring that the vessel’s operational integrity was maintained. The unpredictable maritime weather conditions necessitated unwavering adherence to stringent class standards even under adverse circumstances. Moreover, the project required exceptional coordination with the system manufacturer to complete repairs within a highly time-sensitive framework, thereby minimizing vessel downtime.

  • Rapid identification and replacement of worn components was essential.
  • Unpredictable maritime weather affected work conditions.
  • Strict adherence to class standards was maintained despite challenges.
  • Coordinating repairs within a very tight timeframe was critical.
